On February 10, 2017, Vareille Foundation representatives Hélène Vareille, Clément Dumortier and Pauline Daragon met in Lausanne with representatives of the Martigny schools (Patrice Moret and Pierre-Louis Nanchen), the Canton of Valais (Michel Beytrison), the Valais Conservatory (Director Thierry Debons) and the Verbier Festival (Laurence Marchand and Stephen McHolm).
The meeting focused on planning a retreat at the Verbier music festival in July for the children participating in our Martigny “violin project” and their parents. A similar event was held last summer, attended by a group of around 30 people from Martigny.
Last year’s retreat gave the children the opportunity to discover the world of classical music at a professional level—and to see the results of the intense work put in by very young musicians at the beginning of their careers.
This summer, 100 children and their parents will take part in dedicated musical activities and have contact with young musicians, and their special day will include plenty of surprises planned especially for them. The goal is also to inspire them and keep them motivated to learn the violin all year long!
A detailed program for the day will be announced in early April.
