Under the partnership between the Vareille Foundation and the Fondation Royaumont, composer Diana Soh will be a regular guest at Persan during this academic year.
In a series of five visits to classes of seven- and eight-year-olds (Cours élémentaire 1, or CE1), she will compose a variety of pieces with and for the children. Diana’s first visit was on November 15, and the subject of the project is “feelings”—the overarching theme adopted for this school year by the teachers at Persan. The program will also inspire creativity in the children, who will have the opportunity to compose a small portion of the score with guidance from Diana and their violin teachers.
Their new work is set to premier at a year-end concert for parents at historic Royaumont Abbey—a perfect way to mark graduation for this class of young violinists.
Next year the program will be rolled out for all CE1 classes participating in our project, under the guidance of the violin teachers.
