Last week our Martigny students attended a performance of Maurice Ravel’s Mother Goose Suite—the magical conclusion of a two-part project under our partnership with the Verbier Festival.
In April, the students had prepared for the big day by creating illustrations of the fairy tales that inspired Ravel, and on Monday, 7 May, they attended a live performance, thanks to the ever-impeccable organizational skills of the Martigny schools.
As a professional storyteller guided the children through each of the five tales from Charles Perrault’s classic collection, a string quartet of young artists from the Verbier Festival Academy played the corresponding sections of music.
…and a graphic artist projected a synchronized animation based on their drawings. The students were delighted—and very proud to see their artwork on display!
Immersed in a fairy-tale world of words, music, color and imagination, both adults and children were captivated by the concert.
