85 BUDDING VIOLINISTS GATHER AT MONTHEY’S THÉÂTRE DU CROCHETAN FOR PRESENTATION CEREMONY
Parents of the four-and five-year-olds turned out in large numbers for the event, which featured Eric Borgeaud, head of Monthey’s Department of Public Education, and Michael Morisod, head of primary schools. Both men expressed warm support for the project and its core principles. Hélène Vareille and violin teacher Florence von Burg also spoke during the ceremony, stressing the importance of parental support and encouragement for our little musicians.
And then (at last!) the children took their first steps onto the stage to take possession of their very own violins.
The last item on the program was a brief concert by Anthony Fournier, a gifted young violinist and a native of Monthey’s home canton of Valais. He charmed young and old alike with his performance—a mix of classical and pop that even included Queen’s rock hit We Are the Champions!
The celebration ended with a delicious buffet of Valais cuisine, created by Théâtre du Crochetan chef Mauro Capelli and his team.
